What is Doors Open Minneapolis?

Doors Open Minneapolis, produced by Rethos, is your chance to explore the buildings that tell our city’s story. From theaters to business hubs, sacred spaces to private clubs, sports complexes to engineering wonders, historical gems to not-even-open-yet buildings, Doors Open Minneapolis will give you a FREE behind-the-scenes look at dozens of exciting venues. Building owners and caretakers will provide unique perspectives that illustrate why these venues, people and businesses, are central to our city’s identity.

Who makes Doors Open Minneapolis happen?

Doors Open Minneapolis is produced by Minnesota-based historic preservation nonprofit, Rethos. Rethos works with communities to identify building and community-related challenges and find solid solutions. From visioning a building’s next chapter to telling the diverse stories associated with our buildings from early history to today, Rethos practices The New Preservation.

Doors Open Minneapolis is presented in partnership with the City of Minneapolis and many other important partners and sponsors.

710 South Marquette Avenue #50th Floor Minneapolis, MN 55402

$115 – $175

Slip into your most glamorous mid-century attire and join us for the sparkling launch of The Luminary Society: An Exclusive Key to Extraordinary Spaces — an evening that blends 1970s elegance with high-design nostalgia, all from the most iconic address in Minneapolis: Windows on Marquette, atop the IDS Center.

Sponsored by the Marquette Hotel, this Mid-Century Modern-themed soiree evokes the spirit of Mary Richards herself — bold, stylish, and ready to take on the city. Enjoy inspired refreshments, elevated hors d’oeuvres, and rich storytelling from the city’s highest perch as we explore the skyline and the legacy of IDS architect Philip Johnson, whose complicated brilliance helped define a generation of design.

Looking for more? Upgrade to The Skyline Passage VIP experience: a private tour led by Dr. Heidi Swank, beginning with a champagne toast in a Marquette Hotel suite, descending into hidden tunnels, then rising skyward to the top of the IDS Center—where Minneapolis unfolds in every direction.
